now, katy and i joke that we shouldn't be allowed to shop online. we pick something out, put it in our cart and then when it arrives at our doorstep? it's not at all what we had in mind. she ended up with a HUGE dining room light fixture and me, well, a gauze-like curtain panel. that was shiny. (maybe we need to pay more attention?)
so i hung up the shiny thing anyway, because it was better than the pillowcase, right?
but it wasn't. so this weekend, i did something about it. first step was to hem it to size. after getting out my sewing machine direction booklet, i threaded my bobbin (i love saying that!) and hemmed two sides.
then i ironed it. and prayed it didn't melt. it didn't!
next i taped off the pattern. i had decided that this shiny gauze was already considered a loss, so why not experiment? my math major self could have been a little more precise with the taping but eh, i wasn't worried about it.
time for paint! i mixed some paint i had on hand with a bit of water- hoping to thin it out. as soon as i started painting i realized it was not nearly as thinned out as i imagined. but there was no turning back!
and this one is from the bathtub. i was caulking. (look! it's our air conditioning vent from the future!)
while i'm not a fan of the orange-ish color, i think the idea worked. and really, our bathroom can't get much worse. and also? it's better than a pillowcase!!

lol--for someone who doesn't much like yellow, you've sure been dancing all around it lately! next will be the transformation of the little dutch boy bath into a piece of provence?
ReplyDeleteit was the only paint i had left that sean hadn't ruined.
ReplyDeletei'm not touching that bathroom! it's all tile- not much i can do.
