it's been a few days since i've painted something gold so i grabbed this tray off the shelf.  i bought this from target almost five years ago and it was definitely time for a makeover.

this tray, that's been going around pinterest, was my inspiration.

i just used painter's tape for the design and then sprayed three coats of metallic gold rustoleum spray paint.

peeling the tape off was a little scary - i ended up letting it mostly dry before i tried.  i figured i'd end up just smudging it otherwise (you know, one fingerprint and IT'S RUINED!).  there are a few spots where it bled but it's not too noticeable.

i'm starting to get dizzy from the pattern.  or maybe the paint fumes?

(obviously, i won't be putting food on my tray.  unless i want to poison someone.)
