when i took the week between christmas and new years off from work (a first!) i had visions of getting tons done around the house. and while i did tackle a few projects, my master bedroom update isn't as big as i'd like. oh well.

i made curtains. the most time consuming curtains in the history of this blog. i picked out the fabric (from hawthorne threads- highly recommended!) and used some old ikea roman shades as a base.  instead of just swiping the hardware, i sewed the fabric onto the shades, using the original white fabric as a liner.  it took forever (like a full day and a half for three windows).  but i'm a very bad sewer.

we're still figuring out what kind of bed to get, so i'm not hanging anything on the walls until that's finalized.  the horses are just resting on the dresser because i was tired of staring at a blank wall.

i hope i never have to make curtains again.

note: my camera is now only functioning on manual mode.  it's one thing to choose my own f-stop and shutter speed (which i am definitely still learning) but i actually have to manually focus each photo.  obviously, my camera needs repair but i don't want to drop it off somewhere (or worse, mail it out!) for a week.  so my photos might be less than ideal until i muster the nerve to part with my beloved camera.  although, my photos are nothing to write home about with my fully-functioning camera so you guys might not even notice.  if this is the case, ignore this note.

  1. Just wanted to tell you, I saw a girl on Pinterest totally pinned your living room from Apartment Therapy! She went to Cy-Creek so... small world. You're so famous.

  2. i love the fabric you chose. i think they look great. i got a sewing machine a while back and had all these visions of awesome things i'd make for my house. but really i made a couple throw pillows and it's been collecting dust ever since. I might attempt making curtains for our living room & dining room, but nothing as complicated as roman shades. i'm not that patient.
