kitchen redo: week 3!
we have cabinets! most of them anyway. we're missing one lower cabinet on the left where that weird bump-out is (the plumbing is behind there).

| in a perfect world the window would not butt up to the cabinets, but i can't complain! |
the island is a lot bigger than i imagined! i mean, i had the measurements but you don't really know how it's going to look til it's there.
this weekend we picked up the tile for the backsplash and attempted to buy hardware (let it be noted that sean will go anywhere in georgetown with the promise of sprinkles cupcakes). i really don't like the look of nickel on the gray but i also don't like the oil rubbed bronze/pewter on the white. and all the styles i really like online are like $25 a piece (what!?) and will take 3-4 weeks to ship. so, yeah.

looks great, they are moving along nicely.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is really coming along! I really love the mix of dark and white cabinets.
ReplyDeleteits looking great! have you thought about mixing and matching the hardware - theres no rule that the hardware on the cabinets has to match whats on the island...
ReplyDeletei have! i actually called my sister from restoration hardware to ask if it'd be weird to have nickel on the white cabs and orb on the island. i might do it!
DeleteI like the idea of mixing it up.
DeleteI love it!
ReplyDeletemix the hardware - no rule to say you have to have the same on both. it's looking great! and i love the cabinets going to the ceiling and the big island. it's going to be a massive improvement on what you had!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of mixing cabinet colours!! I also really like ORB on white cabinets, but that's just me :) Here are some recent photos of our v. simple kitchen makeover with ORB cabinet pulls. We ordered the knobs from overstock.com - they had a big selection, didn't take long to ship and were cheaper than special ordering from Lowes or HD. http://house-capades.blogspot.com/2012/06/rustic-kitchen-shelves.html
ReplyDeletelooks great! i think the orb is perfect for your kitchen.
DeleteLookin good! I agree with all y'all... mixing up the hardware would look awesome.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Those cabinets are fabulous! I love that they soar all the way to the ceiling. Also, totally agree with the other commenters about mixing up the hardware. I think it gives a really cool, eclectic feel to a space.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be beautiful when it's done, Erin. You and Sean are putting so much thought and care in making the design decisions. Only saw it once, in person, but it's going to look so different and have a nice "flow" as THEY say. Good job!
ReplyDeletethanks, diane! i'm a little worried katy's going to make me host thanksgiving now. ;)
DeleteIt looks so good! The white cabinets next to the window really brighten up the space!
