our kitchen is getting demolished today.  which means we spent sunday frantically trying to pack every last dish, glass and pan up.  of course, i completely forgot we had this to do over the weekend and had no boxes on hand.  naturally, sean came up with the solution to stuff our dinner plates wherever they could fit around the house.  we may never find everything when the kitchen gets put back together.

currently, the dining room table is in the corner of the living room.

toaster and smoothie maker too!

the pantry stuff has taken up residence under the tv (and every day sean closes the cabinets, afraid simbacat is going to eat our uncooked pasta or something. and every day i lay down on the couch and realize the damn cabinet door is closed and the remote isn't going to work.).

why so much pam spray?

our silverware is in the entryway dresser.  and the balsamic vinegar is on the mantle?

i hope to post a weekly update of the kitchen progress- we've been told 3-5 weeks but i find that a little optimistic.  hopefully i'll be proven wrong!

  1. Ugh, 3-5 weeks?! I clearly watch too much HGTV because I want a 2-day makeover!!! Can't wait to see peeks.

  2. Good luck! Our renovations took 5 weeks (we were estimated at about 6.5) and we basically had the whole thing taken down to the studs, so it can be done! It was mostly about when the appliances, cabinets, countertops, etc. could be delivered. I'm excited to see how yours turns out!

    1. i can't wait to see photos of your space! and yeah, if our schedule gets thrown off i'm sure it'll be because we're waiting on delivery. it's hard to coordinate!

  3. I have very fond memories of living through a kitchen reno with my mom. We made cereal for breakfast and kept coolers full of refrigerated items in our dining room. You're going to have a blast organizing the new space with all your treasures around the house!

    1. our fridge *should* stay plugged in so that will be a huge help! we've got the toaster, crockpot and grill but i'm guessing it'll be more like chinese, the diner and thai food haha.

  4. We were gutted down to studs and it took about 4 weeks. During that time, we also didn't have a bathroom. So I washed dishes in a bucket in the driveway, took showers on the screened/covered back porch, our fridge & kitchen essentials were in the living room. It can be done! Good luck though, it's not easy to live through, but it's totally worth it.

I like the balsamic vinegar on the mantle. I think it really completes the look. ha ha.

  5. My husband and I lived through a remodel with only one bedroom and one bathroom at a time (we had to switch midway through). We ate a LOT of Taco Bell and Wheat Thins. The good news is that now we laugh about it, so you will get past it.

(Also, where did you get that dog bed with the robots?!? I love it and I think our dog, Frankie, needs one desperately.)

  6. Shows how little I know about home reno... when I read "3-5 weeks," I thought that sounded like a long-ass time for 1 kitchen!

Didja finish the quilt yet? Because uh, we were promised pictures. ;)

    1. it looks like the colors are distorted, the mantle isn't yellow is it? Or maybe they've changed things since I was there.
