no kitchen update today.  we had a bit of a mix up with the back splash grout (the horror!) and it's going to take a few days to fix.  i'd rather just share the final 'after' photos, hopefully in a few days!

we spent the weekend being pretty lazy, par for the course these days.  sean finished up his summer class on saturday night which was a huge relief.  he's been so busy lately so it'll be nice to see him for more than 5 minutes on the weekdays.  (because of this, i've been watching so much tv.  i finished both seasons of the killing in less than two weeks! i realize holder is supposed to be The Hot Guy but stan and his overalls totally do it for me.)

of course, friday brought a huge storm (that i slept through) that knocked down trees and left tons without power.  we were SO lucky that all our huge limbs that fell landed in the yard and not on the house or car.  i think this is the first time we've come through a major storm unscathed.  we actually have horrible luck with weather-related disasters.

we also usually lose power at every opportunity.  but not this time!  we stayed cool and even had cable throughout the weekend.  until sunday night, that is.  it looks like they knocked our power out to repair others.  i figure it's some electricity-related good karma that we can stockpile for the next storm.  plus, after living through a week without power during hurricane gustav (in louisiana, in august), lack of electricity doesn't really phase me.

did you guys come through ok?  i hope so!

i'll leave you with this super cute photo of basil in his kiddie pool.

b wasn't all that impressed with the pool.  but he humored me and got in.  even put a smile on!

  1. We bought a baby pool for our silly lab who can't drink from the water bowl without splashing all around in it. And guess what? He couldn't care less about the pool. He'd rather splash in the water bowl! sigh.

  2. We thought about a kidding pool for our dogs, too. But they don't want to be outside unless we are and we're not going to sit out there sweating. :) Glad you didn't lose power. My sister is in Arlington and said her entire block went out for a couple days.
