it's time for our 2012 year in review!

this year, especially the second half, was a slow one for the blog.  i could blame it on the pregnancy but i think i was losing steam long before that.  it might be time to shut this old thing down?  we'll see...

january:  i make an old bookcase into a bar.  my mother-in-law and i bake the best king cake ever.  i dream about redoing our kitchen.

february:  ack.  lola passed away in the end of february and it's all i think about when i look back at that month.  we still miss her sooo much.

march:  i make a fun map.  i stencil our bedroom wall (never.again.).  we take my most favorite vacation to date- iceland!  i turn 29 and sean and simbacat team up to ruin my birthday.

april:  we spend easter weekend at the beach and then say goodbye to my nana in schenectady.  i put up the prettiest door knocker.  and sean attends the white house correspondent's dinner.

may:  we decide to redo the kitchen!!  this is also the month i find out i'm pregnant.  sean, too (i texted him the big news. seriously.).

june:  kitchen demo begins!  i'm in the worst of morning sickness and pretty much get in bed at 7pm each night.  we visit portland, maine.  i finish my first quilt!  don't ask about my second quilt.

july:  the kitchen is complete!!  i share the news that we're expecting.  aaand that's really it.

august:  we celebrate 5 years of marriage in banff, alberta.  i had no plans to be pregnant on this trip we had been planning for four years (i mean whatever is a vacation good for, if not day drinking??) but i had a great time and felt pretty good, too.  i start writing pregnancy updates (omg how TINY am i at 18 weeks?  i just look like i ate a large pizza or something.)  i make a cat scratcher.

september:  we start the nursery (slowly but surely).  i spent a girls weekend at the greenbrier!

october:  more nursery updates.  not much else.

november:  my sister throws me a lovely baby shower.  more pregnancy updates.  i redo an old dresser (again) for the nursery.  we also celebrate a thanksgiving i will cherish for years to come (and anna's first birthday!), which didn't make it on the blog.

december:  i take a flattering photo.  and the nursery is done!!

2013 will be full of changes.  for one, um, we're having a baby (AHHHH).  and, although i haven't mentioned it before, sean will be starting a new job in the new year.  he's spent a chunk of his career on the hill but he's always been on the house side.  in a few weeks he'll be moving over to the senate side (look out!).  he's pretty pumped.  so, it looks like we'll be adjusting to a few new things in 2013.  hopefully we'll still have time for a couple home improvement projects (the bathrooms, oh, the bathrooms) in between.
